London based Singer, Producer and Multidisciplinary Performer, experimenting with the female form and ideals. Exploring embodiment of death, sexuality, prejudice and history. Lou Currently fronts LAXMI A `duo that create dark electronic pop and sparkling, bassline heavy otherworldly horror stories using found sounds and samples from around London.
Lou collaborates with Breathing Space, an experimental sound and vocal installation. Breathing Space were originally put together for Artist Stephen Shiell’s project LUGUS. The group explores spatial acoustics such as disused docklands and floating platforms as well as trees and nature as performance spaces. They most recently performed a sound bath experience at Shambala Festival
Lou fronted the brass Detroit Rave 9 piece and theatrical experiment Royal Gala band, for 6 years touring across Europe and the UK, working with the Electric Picnic, invisible Circus, Lost Vagueness, MTV USA, The Secret Garden Party Boomtown Fair, Shambala, Beatherder amongst others, and supporting the Specials, The Correspondents, The mighty Una bombers, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble and The Dub Pistols. Her Stage persona became inspiration for several choreographed performance pieces including Priya Mistry’s ‘Hail The New Puritans’ performed at Nottingham Contemporary.
Other projects include co-producing and writing ‘CRUCIBLE’ a song and soundscape project on stilts in collaboration with the Foundation for Indian Performing Arts (FIPA) touring Southampton and Edinburgh Mela, Hackney Carnival. CRUCIBLE explores elements of creation myths and their embodiment in colonial power, discovery and change.
